# JACKSON AND POLLOCK 4: FORMULA TO CALCULATE BODY FAT

This formula helps to provide a fairly accurate representation of an individual's body fat percentage, is often used more for the general population and is simpler to perform compared to the Jackson and Pollock 7, since in this only the measurements of 4 skin folds are taken and becomes more accurate than the Jackson and Pollock 3. This well-performed formula makes it one of the most reliable body fat percentage tests. A skinfold caliper is required for its realization. You can look at the guide to taking skinfold measures here.

## Jackson and Pollock 4: The 4 skinfold measurement points

• Tríceps
• Abdominal
• Suprailíac
• Thigh

### Jackson-Pollock 4 Body Fat Formula for Men

If the person for measurement is male, use the following formula.

Measure the following skin folds (in millimeters) with a skinfold caliper:

Abdominal, Tríceps, Thigh and Suprailíac

Body density(0,29288 x sum of all the skinfolds) – (0,0005 x sum of all of skinfolds squared) + (0,15845 x age) – 5.76377

Body Fat Percentage (%) = [(495 / Body Density) – 450] x 100

### Jackson-Pollock 4 Body Fat Formula for Women

If the person for measurement is female, use the following formula.

Measure the following skin folds (in millimeters) with a skinfold caliper:

Abdominal, Tríceps, Thigh and Suprailíac

Body density(0,29669 x sum of all the skinfolds) – (0,00043 x sum of all of skinfolds squared) + (0,02963 x age) + 1,4072

Body Fat Percentage (%) = [(495 / Body Density) – 450] x 100
