Remember the Life of Dr. Bill Ross

April 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that on April 24, 2026, Dr. William "Bill" Ross passed away at age 97.   His contribution to the science of kinanthropometry around the world cannot be overstated.

ISAK has put out the following statement:

Prof. Ross has been a key figure for the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) and for the development of Kinanthropometry in general worldwide. His scientific contribution and dedication have left an indelible mark that will continue to guide the work of future generations.

ISAK would not be what it is today were it not for Prof. Ross. He developed the scientific foundations for the kineanthropometric approach to body composition, somatotype and proportionality.

For all these reasons, Prof. Ross’s legacy is of incalculable value, and we at ISAK can only thank him for a life dedicated to kinanthropometry. Our heartfelt thanks also go to his family for the support they have always provided.
